VIC Curriculum EAL scoring

As of Semester 1 2021, the AusVELs scoring matrix for English as an Additional Language (EAL) students will no longer be used - instead, a new marking scheme under the Victorian Curriculum will now be used.

Setup of EAL students (Administrators)

Each student who is to be marked with the EAL matrix instead of standard English will need to be identified via their student profiles as follows:

  • Navigate to Management > People > Students.

  • Click on the required student.

  • Click the Edit button.

  • Click on the Reporting tab.

  • Tick the checkbox This student is required to be under the EAL (English as an Additional Language) continuum.

  • Choose the EAL pathway that the student will be marked under.

  • Click Save.

The VIC Curriculum requires an EAL pathway to be chosen, as they are no longer tied to the student’s age as the previous AusVELs continuum was.
