This article is for Administrators and Teachers

Students absence details are listed on three tabs:

  • Absent Notes

  • Unexplained Absences

  • Absence Explanations

View absence notes

  • Login to uEducateUs and expand your browser window so the left-hand main menu is visible.

  • Click the 3-bar hamburger menu at the top left if you can’t see the menu.

  • Click Attendance > Absent Notes.

Manage absent note types.

Absent note types need to be created before absent notes can be added to the system.

  • Click on Manage types.

  • Click on New Absent Note Type.

  • Name the absent note type in the Title field.

  • Select the Attendance code to apply to attendance for the absent notes that use this type.

  • Select whether Parents can use this absent note type. If no is selected, Parents will not see this absent note type.

  • Click Add.

  • Click on the cog wheel icon next to an existing absent note type to Edit, Disable or Delete.

  • Note that absent note types that have been used cannot be deleted.

Filter absent notes

You can display a subset of results with the page filter.

  • Click Filter.

  • Choose one or more filter criteria:

    • Type of absence

    • Dates of absence

  • Enter a student name.

  • Click Apply filter.

  • Click Clear filter to restore the default view.

Create absent note

Create an absent note for selected students

  • Click Create absent note.

  • Enter one or more the student names.

Configure the note

  • Select the type of absence from the list.

  • Choose the attendance code for the student absence.

  • Choose start and end dates.

  • Choose periods

Add a comment

Add a comment if required

Save and close

  • Click Save.

Edit absence note

  • Click Attendance > Absent notes.

  • Click 🔽 >Edit.

  • Make changes

  • Click Save.

Delete absent note

Deleting an absent note for a past date will not affect existing attendance rolls.

Absent notes cannot be recovered once deleted.

  • Click Attendance > Absent notes.

  • Click 🔽 > Delete.

  • Click Delete on the confirmation message.

View unexplained absences

Students marked with 500 - unexplained are listed under Unexplained Absences.

  • Click Attendance > Unexplained Absences

Filter unexplained absences

You can display a subset of results with the page filter.

  • Click Filter.

  • Choose Start and end date.

  • Enter student name.

  • Click Apply filter.

  • Click Clear filter to return to the default view.

Edit unexplained absence

You can change the code on an unexplained absence, which will update the linked attendance roll.

  • Click Attendance > Unexplained Absences.

  • Click View for the student.

  • Select an alternate absence code.

View absence explanations

Absence explanations are gathered by the uEducateUs Kiosk and entered by the parent/guardian.

These can be used to determine the status of an unexplained absence.

  • Click Attendance > Absence Explanations.

Filter absence explanations

You can display a subset of results with the page filter.

  • Click Filter.

  • Use the following criteria:

    • Choose dates.

    • Enter student and/or parent names.

    • Enter absence type and/or attendance type.

    • Enter period names

  • Click Apply filter.

  • Click Clear filter to restore the default view.
